| Birth date: 1996 Birthplace: Chicago, Illinois Family: None. Her mother is brain dead Allies: Kincaid, Harry Dresden Background: The Archive: It is the living memory of humanity. It is passed from one generation to the next from mother to daughter with all the previous memories still intact. It is bound to neutrality in the preservation of gathering knowledge. It is complex magic that knows anything that gets printed or written down. The Archive has been around for five thousand years and usually inherited by a woman when she's in her early to mid-thirties when her mother dies after she's given birth to her own daughter. Part of the Archive's nature is a drive to protect itself and it has a power available to it that ensures survival. Ivy: She is twelve years old and was born as the Archive when her mother became brain dead. Ivy's grandmother died in a freak automobile accident leaving a resentful pregnant seventeen year old girl. She hated her mother for dying and cursing her to carry the Archive when she wanted to have her own life. Ivy's mother hated her for having the freedom ahead of her and tried to kill herself. It left her brain dead and Ivy an infant with the memories of five thousand years of other Archives and all the writings of humanity. Kincaid was in the employ of her grandmother and became Ivy's 'bodyguard' since she was an infant. She sometimes works as a neutral arbitrator between signees of the Accords which is how she met Harry Dresden. Ivy was the neutral party to the duel between him and the Red Court vampires. Harry was the first person to treat her as a kid and named her Ivy. They have a friendship and Ivy cares for him enough to give herself up to the Denarians to keep him alive. Personality: In some ways Ivy is a typical child with all of her childish delights but the majority of what Ivy is like is very much the result of being an Archive. She is extremely intelligent, serious and understands as much as she can the weight of her responsibility. Despite that, she has a dry wit and a funny sense of humor. Ivy is also stronger than she appears and not just physically/magically because that she's the Archive. Tthe power came to her at birth, so she had to be very strong mentally or she would have gone insane. She's tough, determined and stubborn. |
